Byrd Dress Code

Byrd Middle School Dress Code (BDC)

Due to the proximity to Poly HS we have chosen to adopt this School Uniform Policy to help create a sense of safety; encourage pride in our school and to identify our students from outsiders. The School Uniform Policy was developed by school staff, parents, students; reviewed by our School Safety Planning/Discipline Committee and approved by our School Decision Making Council. We feel that this is a safe and positive approach to educating our children and students. The uniform guidelines and the School Uniform Policy consists of the following:
  • Tops: Solid black, white or tan, collared shirt (polo or fully buttoned shirt) worn and fully visible on the outside. Other garments must be worn under the collared shirt. See Cold Weather for Exceptions.
  • Bottoms: Solid black or tan pants, shorts, skirts or skorts.

  • Cold Weather: Cold weather jackets/sweaters of any color that conform to the regular school dress code may be worn. This includes solid black, white or tan sweatshirts, sweaters or jackets.
  • Shoes: Must be closed-toed shoes that students can safely walk in. Examples of shoes that do not adhere to safety are flip flops, sandals, slippers or house shoes.
  • For sun protection: Students may wear a plain BDC Color hat or visor without a logo, (Byrd Logo Visor Available for sale in the Student Store) for sun protection while outdoors.
  • While on campus students must be in BDC.
