History

The Richard E. Byrd Science/Technology/Math Magnet School is one of the original magnet schools created in 1979 for the purpose of alleviating the five harms of racial isolation in schools.  Our program is entrusted to provide a rigorous level of education to a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds and academic abilities.  We emphasize math, science, and technology not just in a single elective class, but through the entire curriculum.
